A few years ago in Chicago some group organized a "Slut Walk" in downtown's Grant Park, culinating in a bunch of bare-breasted young ladies frolicking in Buckingham Fountain, all the while insisting they had the right to bodily autonomy and that, just because they dressed like sluts, they should be immune from unwelcome male attention. Likewise, re women who wear plunging necklines and then proclaim that everyone should keep their eyes up here instead of down there -- what is it about passing yourself off as a sex-object and then taking offense when you're treated as one? Somebody enlighten me.
It's a denial of agency and personal responsibility.... otherwise known as 'feminism'.
If you admit that your youth and feminine beauty (basically your fertility and power to make babies) gives you unique value, and thus social power (and especially power over men), then it's much harder to play the powerless victim, which is feminists' chosen currency.
So feminists pretend they have no value as women, and thus no power as women, and that being female is a curse, and male attention is 100% negative all the time (and never a positive) so they can maintain maximum victimhood status and never be held accountable for their actions.
Slut walks are a way to be exhibitionist and sexually provocative in public, while maintaining the status of downtrodden, powerless, oppressed victim of men's supreme patriarchal power and agency.
Feminism is itself the ultimate Male Power Fantasy (men control everything, women are just powerless, inert victims dominated by men throughout history), and so really feminism is self objectification (denial of personal agency), but performed under the banner of 'women's empowerment'.
I personally think feminism was a reaction AGAINST the liberating and empowering effects of modern technology, which kind of devalued women's unique gender roles and unique value in society (literally feeding a family every day and keeping them alive and clothed). As technology made women's role less arduous a century ago women suffered a collective identity / self worth crisis. Playing the 'oppressed victim' was a substitute metric of value, as women value as washers, cooks, spinners, weavers, food preparers etc was diminished by new mod cons.
This is why feminism first took off among wealthy, upper middle class housewives with little to do all day, except get together, drink coffee and all agree to play the victim... while their husbands worked all day and supported the family. This was the first time in human history that women had spare time. Even single working men no longer needed a 'housekeeper/ landlady' to cook him food and wash his clothes. These tasks suddenly became effortless, and much less time consuming, compared to the past.
I think the industrial revolution had a similar effect on 19th/ 20th century women (some women) as winning the lottery or retiring from work. Without a full time job and the sense of identity and it gave, they lost their minds (some of them at least).
This is why feminism, and slut walks and endless displays of victimhood and identity politics, is so prevalent among middle class women living in the city. Women's role in the industrialised west is 'being a consumer' basically. I mean childcare (motherhood) ought to be a central role still, but raising your own children has been made taboo by feminism and replace by day orphanages run by the state. This has only made women's identity crisis worse, which has only made feminism and victim culture even more popular.
In 2025 the paid workforce does not really 'need' women, and many jobs are basically created just to give women something to do (HR etc). Society would collapse in 3 days if men stopped working. But society would cope pretty well if women stopped working. I believe there was a women's strike in Iceland a couple of years ago and nobody noticed! But in the past when women were housewives everybody would be dead in 3 days if women stopped performing their traditional gender roles.
This is why traditional women in the past felt no need to play the victim, complain that they were being oppressed, or walk down the street naked with SLUT written across their breasts. They knew their immense value as women, and their unique power over men, and so they did not need to assert these things by playing the victim and trying to manipulate men through guilt and shame the way feminist women (AKA 'modern women') do today.
Scarlet is just being loyal to the feminist sisterhood by pretending young women have no social power, and attractive young women do not have the world at their feet for those magical but fleeting years of peak fertility.
Bravo…that’s a damn good “take”!! All true and makes perfect sense…ALL of it. It’s THE BEST explanation I’ve ever seen, heard or read. Thanks for the enlightenment sista!!
I don’t know, whenever I see a plunging neckline, pert boobs trying to burst free of their shackles, a short tight leather skirt hanging just below the crotch, and a nice pair of fuck me pumps, it always reminds me of quantum mechanics, relativity, economic theory, and 4D chess. I am overcome with this overwhelming sense of intellectual pondering….
That’s what I call a stiletto. But okay, still torture trying to wear them. Actually I was more thinking about the advertising part of that scenario. You know, picturing what the ad would look like. It would be eye catching!!
Me too, Andy. A nice pair of boobies and the first thing that jumps to my mind is ‘Hegelian Dialectic’. Then, if I look lower to a teeny mini skirt ‘Hmmmm, Schrödinger’s pussy.’
Yeah simple…they’re what I call hypocrites. Trying to play demure with their breasts hanging out. Cover up baby, bring a sweatshirt, you look cold. Expect to be objectified when you dress like a slut. LOL sorry, I kind of went off on that topic. Hope I answered your question!!
I was in the modeling guild and paying social security taxes for doing tv commercials and magazine shoots in nyc from 5 years old to 13 when I was suddenly too old. Lol.
I thought I was the only one! 5 or so years ago, I started telling my husband how angry it made me to watch Hollywood adopt all manner of fugly and such. I can tell you what show it was -- American Horror Story. There were too many to choose from on this show. I don't WANT to see my neighbors and the people from Wal-Mart on the television. I can see them daily. I don't want them to have quirks or anything. I want to see beautiful women and handsome men. That's the whole point!!!! I am meant to be taken out of this world and injected into another where things don't really happen like that in real life but give an aspirational view anyway. I don't want to see my nightmares or my dreams in plain and weird people. I'm sorry, but not sorry. Not everyone needs to be a beauty queen (Kathy Bates is one of my favorite actresses) but if they aren't beautiful, they have to fit the role and be talented and charismatic. I feel like I'm always watching the people the casting director felt sorry for lately. Rant over.
The Critical Drinker is one funny guy! His point is spot on; we watch movies to be entertained, to be in a different reality for a while. Hollywood completely misses the point of movies when they ignore the basic - and critical - human need to be entertained and maybe a bit attracted too.
The 'male gaze' is the counterpart to the 'female vanity' you wrote about in the past, they go hand in hand.
And for those who would try to weaponize the term, I refer to it as "God's gaze" because it's not men that they have an argument with... it's the reason we all are here.
Scarlett J being against the male gaze is vastly over rating her acting ability. She is a very mediocre actress. Take away her looks and she would be lucky to get a soap commercial part in a TV ad.
It’s true. I used to live in Chicago and saw both Jane Seymour and Fergie (the duchess) at Neiman Marcus (book tours I think) and both middle aged women were remarkably petite and much better looking than their pictures.
I bumped shoulders with Paris Hilton in passing at a crowded bar in Cabo 20+ years ago and was stunned by her beauty. So yeah, some people really are more beautiful in person.
It's pretty incoherent. Douglas Murray commented on it by basically saying that men are told to stop thinking about sex so much while at the same time everywhere you look there are scantily clad women.
Well, that was brilliant. And fun. Thanks for sharing!!
Just wondering. I don’t see “Hollywood Woketopia” all that much, although I enjoy it whenever. I was under the impression that this subscription was part of my subscription to “The Fourth Turning.” However, I’m identified here as a “Free Subscriber.” And I don’t want a free ride. (Not moving to NYC anytime soon.) So if “Hollywood Woketopia” is totally a separate gig, let me know, and I will act accordingly.
Final note: My wife and I recently spent a fantastic night at Brothers Lounge in Lakewood. Kenny: superb KJ. Jimmy: terrific singer. Bonus: some past American Idol contestant. Highly recommended!

Critical Drinker is the ethos of steel wit. Love that guy.
I was in the modeling guild and paying social security taxes for doing tv commercials and magazine shoots in nyc from 5 years old to 13 when I was suddenly too old. Lol.
And btw, Scarlett has nothin on Sasha.
Critical Drinker is a truth speaker. Check out his YouTube page for hundreds of videos about the state of entertainment, gaming, and society.
Oh yeah, Sasha is again brilliant.

I agree….if we wanted to see ordinary people we’d go shop for groceries! Great comment!!
