George Clooney just announced he is stepping away from politics. Perhaps the self-described "Mayor of Hollywood" will convince others to follow. When I saw the new diversity requirements for Oscar contention, I knew that was a turning point. They just went too far. I had a similar evolution as you politically. From Obama to seeing Trump as the only way out. Julia Roberts has disabled her comments on Instagram. The times have changed. The Harris campaign made it even worse for celebrities. What a colossal error in judgment. Time will tell but with AI and the rejection of the Hollywood elite, I think we are entering a new era. We shall see. Great post Sasha! sabrinalabow.substack.com

They’re on the way out.

The hardcore has-beens like Streisand, Sarandon, Cher, etc. will try to stay relevant until the 2026 midterms, but their faint embers are dying fast.

Surely, there are some Maga conservatives in Hollywood. I wish they would come out of the closet. They don't have to dig deep--shouldn't everyone support safer streets and healthier kids?

The average American is barely making ends meet , turning down the heat and eating peanut butter sandwiches for dinner, and there they are , private jets and mega mansions with all the trimmings. Shame on them for being such pussies.

They can't come out. They have to suck it up or they'd never get called for any roles again. In fact, many have no choice but to endorse D. Some big wig well-connected person call them up, tell them no pressure, but it'd be really nice if you would tweet something nice about Kamala. It sounds like a request but it's actually an order. You're free to decline. But you'll stop getting calls. Your agent will drop you. You won't be invited to all the important parties anymore where you can schmooze producers and directors. The whole system requires them to toe the line or they can pack up and go home to whatever small town they came from.

If I may, one other reason Hollywood is losing money is its insistence on adding sex scenes in every movie. While there may be some artistic reason for sex in movies, it's getting to the point that I can't take kids to any new movies anymore and cable? - every film shown has its obligatory full frontal.

I realize that to Hollywood, sex sells - but families are being shut out in their race towards competing with porn.

Best is to buy some good DVDs of wholesome stuff. When kids want a movie, pop one in. Maybe even order a pizza. Make it fun so they don't feel deprived if they don't go to a movie theater.

I feel the same way! Recently, I tried to watch a mini series based on a very good non-fiction book called "Three Women". The book was about the pain three women suffered when they debased themselves in their sexual relationships. It was a thoughtful and touching book.

But the series GLORIFIED that debasement and I was hit with an unexpected "dick pick" in one of the scenes. Again, if I wanted to see a dick pick I'm sure I could request one or find one online.

Hollywood just assumes that all the audience wants to see is porn - or that porn is a necessary requirement to gain an audience.

I stopped watching the series because it made me sick.

Sadly, I doubt over sexualization is making Hollywood LESS money. At the same time, it’s likely redundant with the widespread availability of high definition pornography featuring gorgeous actresses.

The entertainment industry is full of the biggest cowards this world has to offer. Zero conviction people who do as they’re told because they are too afraid to lose their fame and fortune. This worked out fine for them up until #MeToo. When their favorite past time was exposed, everyone quickly zipped up, lawyered up and started pointing fingers. Now the only thing that runs that town, and entertainment as a whole, is fear.

Why do you think Tarantino hasn’t actually released his “final” movie? That goes for anyone else with actual talent. Because talented people do not want to release anything with depth and vision in this stifling environment. It’s totally wasted on this crowd, with the cowards in entertainment media and industry insiders acting as the hall monitors. This has had the effect of losing them billions of dollars annually and making people all wonder, “what happened to Hollywood?”

What happened was you got a bunch of transexual pearl clutchers running your business and nobody wants to put their Moby Dick in your incapable hands.

Hollywood is no longer about entertainment; it is about indoctrination with its woke agenda and quotas.

Consider Top Gun Maverick which was made in Old Hollywood -style--entertainment at its finest.

New Hollywood , in effect, cancelled both Tom Cruise and Miles Teller (Maverick and Rooster) by not nominating either for an Oscar when CLEARLY these 2 men "had us" (stealing from another Cruise movie) from their first meeting in Penny's bar.

They were the epitome of what Americans hope our military looks like. We celebrated their strength their resolve, and their commitment. Real men.

Hollywood today, celebrates the likes of Rachel Levine. And that's all you need to know.

There's a reason why I left American music for k-pop, and I watch a lot of k-dramas and action films. Hollywood just can't produce it anymore, and American music is dead as a doorknob if all we get to listen to is Taylor Swift.

Hollywood CAN and WILL dig itself out. Top Gun Maverick showed that and they know it, just a little more time.

The Trump dance - he knows he can't dance and... just does something - just being Normal. Love it, and Jon Jones does too. The best.

The Trump-dance is now going viral and it’s now being helped by the NFL, and even UK football Premiership teams following goals. I don’t think the networks like it (they are editing it out in case of Las Vegas Raiders) but fans sure do! Old Media at it again trying to hide/suppress the truth.

In the 1980s, Hollow-wood was feeling stale, and a whole new wave of indie films started popping up, even though they had to fight for distribution (movie theaters were the only option; no internet).

I genuinely believe that there are people out there who are creative, interesting, and talented, and they are already making content. And with drones, inexpensive professional grade cameras, and the ease of video editing, they can make films that look and sound almost as good as Hollow-wood (but better written). With so many streaming platforms and the internet, we already have a direct creator-to-consumer pipeline. It’s coming, and it’s going to be interesting.

For me, celebrity endorsements have always boiled down to this: they get one vote as I do. Their opinion isn’t any more important or valid than mine. Why should I care about what they think any more than I care about any other American?

People’s impression of celebrities, for the most part, like their acting or their songs and don’t give a hoot about their politics. However, when you hear the exorbitant fees these celebrities were paid to just say a few words and not even perform, makes one wonder what they really think. Social media influencers were paid as well to spin their fawning claims of devotion. Then to top it off we start hearing about the ‘freak offs’ the celebrities attended with P Diddy and who in their right mind would care what these people think about anything. I can’t wait until these so-called glamorous people are exposed and we learn the depths of depravity they have participated in.

Sasha, I’m old as dirt but I don’t remember ever looking up to actors as politicians. Maybe it was my martial background but my colleagues and I never once speculated on what would Cary Grant do (or equivalent).

I chalk this up to hubris, starting with Sonny/Sher, Rowan/Martin, etc., all good entertainment but the industry mistaking ratings for gravitas. And look - here comes Nemesis a-pegging!
