Thank you, Sasha. I wasn't aware of this and might have missed out entirely. I don't even care if the movie is no good! I just appreciate the chance to see it and increase the number of views. Once again Elon does good for our civilization. I think we should change Mars' name to Elon ;-)
I watched it last night before I went to bed and my opinions on it were all over the place. I do think It needed to get made and I agree with you that the more people that see it the better. When you have the situation in the UK, and what the Pakistani gangs have been allowed to get away with, it was inevitable someone would make this movie. It's called the pendulum effect and it's as normal as gravity.
I like revenge movies like Taken & The Beekeeper so I’m sure I’ll like this one. However I’m not sure how much I would promote vigilantism since apparently some people think it’s ok to kill CEOs of healthcare companies in the street. I guess it depends on who gets to define who the enemy is.
We need more Dirty Harry, Death Wish, Punisher type movies and series. I'm good with the vigilante if your cause is righteous. And before you ask, yeah I determine that.
A good question but things are so damned bad, and the stuff in this particular movie are so far across the line of civilization, you won’t have moral qualms.
"[Citizen Vigilante] Sanders later kidnaps [Judge] Reinhold and fatally slits the judge's wrists. Finally, Sanders visits the home of Yusuf, one of the rapists, and takes him and his family hostage. As Yusuf's relatives excuse his actions and blame the victim, Sanders orders him to summon his accomplices to the apartment. Once they arrive, Sanders executes Yusuf, his family, and the other attackers."
Do we really want "citizen vigilantes" running around being judge, jury, and executioner?
I suggest watching "A Man for All Seasons" instead:
William Roper: “So, now you give the Devil the benefit of law!”
Sir Thomas More: “Yes! What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil?”
William Roper: “Yes, I’d cut down every law in England to do that!”
Sir Thomas More: “Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned ’round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country is planted thick with laws, from coast to coast, Man’s laws, not God’s! And if you cut them down, and you’re just the man to do it, do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I’d give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety’s sake!”
In answer to your question: "Do we really want "citizen vigilantes" running around being judge, jury, and executioner?" No, obviously we do not. But unfortunately that is exactly what is ultimately going to happen when you constantly refuse to portray reality as it is and unfairly slander and victimize a certain group people to the point where they receive no justice, no quarter and no fairness from the powers that be. Every action has a reaction.
One of my most favorite movies, those lines in particular!
It seems, however, that it is actually the Left that is tearing down the law and twisting and torturing it to suit their own ends, our current judiciary gone utterly rogue being just one dangerous example.
There are always consequences for such and they are seldom pretty.
I never said otherwise. I specifically quoted the movie and linked to it.
Per the Federalist Society, "More is widely revered for his principled convictions, personal courage, and steadfast refusal to bend to political pressure and subvert the rule of law."
Do we really want "citizen vigilantes" running around being judge, jury, and executioner? Yes, if the judges and juries only protect the ones doing the raping and killing.
Sorry, that belief no longer works for a society where those who are supposed to dispense justice are as corrupt and cowardly as Richard Rich, nor one which is fast being overrun by foreign invaders who harbor great ill will against the Judeo-Christian west.
Since you are a fan of films, this might help you out, from Becket:
"The Kingdom of God must be defended like any other Kingdom. Do you think that Right only has to show its handsome face for everything to drop in its lap? Without Might, its old enemy, Right counts for nothing." Substitute "the West" for the Almighty, and you will get my drift.
You may have had a good point. But you start with a synopsis of a movie that people might not have seen, that I have not seen. I think whatever you have to say deserves as much respect as you gave those.
Man for All Seasons was a fiction. The fact is that civilization is facing an existential antagonist, and simultaneously dealing with residual social femininity. Things will get barbaric for a while, but when the dust settles, society will claw back from the ashes.
I honestly have only seen a handful of movies in the last 30 years that accurately and fairly portrayed a conservative or working class family-religion person and their actual motivations. If this is the case, wouldn’t that mean that this is the actual “marginalized” person, at least as far as storytelling is concerned?
As a for instance, when was the last time you saw a pro-life position represented in a mainstream film? Over 40% of people have a moral objection to it in America alone - far more want it legal but with restrictions and certainly not celebrated, yet the only movie I can think of in my entire life where I saw a prolifer not represented as a loon with very reasonable objections is Juno - that’s it.
After reading Sasha’s interview with the Director of Citizen Vigilante I learned that the movie would premiere in theaters on June 19. Living in Orange County, CA, I was curious to see if any movie theaters were showing the film. No such luck. I checked Fandango today to see if it was available this week. Nada!
Not a huge Uwe Boll fan, based on his early torture porn movies like Hostel, but I’ll probably watch this movie based on the corporate media not wanting me to watch it.
Wow! Hard, cold, and to the point. It is a warning to the West that we must stop what cannot be stopped without admitting that the established society must figure it out or be destroyed, a no-win situation.
Thanks for the referral, Stone. I did not know this was released, so to speak.
It does deal with what is fast becoming the central issue of our times: a justice system hell bent on thwarting justice. The Left likely thinks themselves clever and following some kind of higher moral good by undercutting prosecutions and letting criminals out on free bail or after ridiculously light sentences.
That said, justice, like truth, will eventually come due. Some call it karma, some call it Nemesis, some call it payback. For all the Jacobin judges out there, eventually one of two things will occur here in the U.S. of A.: 1) A widespread public ignoring of judicial review (adios Marbury v. Madison); or 2) An equally widespread refusal to turn people caught in criminal acts over to the police and an activist judiciary and, instead, the swift administration of "frontier" justice.
Those who continue to gleefully thwart their noses at the "consent of the governed" may find that revoked, with all that doing so entails.
The woke left didn’t open the floodgates of immigration across western countries. It was an elite project and had support across the political spectrum. Of course one can argue that the woke left is also an elite project,-:).
Very true but the left and democrats called for it openly with the approval of their voters while the right had to do it under cover, against the will of their votoes in the service of the donor class.
I believe the movie is on Amazon also. Can’t wait to see it!! A movie where I can artificially vent my rage at what’s been happening with the criminal illegals. The left fighting to protect them instead of generations of Americans. It’s repulsive.
It’s available to rent or buy from Prime, which I did, as sort of a boomer fist bump. Also, if you want to give a finger to the left, go to Rotten Tomatoes and rate it “10.”
That dose of truth was tough to watch. Echoing Sasha, Hollywood has spent years hyping Dirty Harry. Charles Bronson, the Assassin and similar more recent films with the Rock or Jason Momoa and now we are racist because the left and even Republicans (RINOs) won’t restore, enforce and sustain law and order. It’s not about color, creed, immigrant or race; it’s about justice for a crime. Only the left use’s the race card for everything.
Great topic, Sasha. My parents came from Germany post World War II.
I implore the left to turn down the rhetoric before it is too late. Every person has a breaking point in the left across the globe does not seem to understand that concept..
Thank you, Sasha. I wasn't aware of this and might have missed out entirely. I don't even care if the movie is no good! I just appreciate the chance to see it and increase the number of views. Once again Elon does good for our civilization. I think we should change Mars' name to Elon ;-)
Elon is a national treasure, we are fortunate to have him here.
Vote with your pocketbook. If it's in the theater, I will go.
I watched it last night before I went to bed and my opinions on it were all over the place. I do think It needed to get made and I agree with you that the more people that see it the better. The first AI films are already sprouting across YouTube and leave much to be desired, but they will improve exponentially fast. Hollywood is doomed.

Who defines which cause is righteous?

More never uttered those words. Fake quote from the play which was copied by the movie.
I never said otherwise. I specifically quoted the movie and linked to it.

People shouldn't get their history and philosophy from Hollywood.
That's why I quoted the Federalist Society on the actual history.
…that's how plays work.

In this case, Sir Thomas, is incorrect.

Sasha - You need a spoiler policy!

Hostel (2005) was by Eli Roth.
