Great article, Sasha. You tapped in on how hard it is to get invested in a movie or a show, only to get to the woke part and suddenly leave whatever fun pretend world they created. It's strange how it feels like a betrayal.
This is why watching a documentary is a huge gamble, it starts out being about twins- let's say- and suddenly BAM they work climate change in. At that point, I have to weigh how much I'm invested in the twins with the annoyance of being preached to. It's why my husband calls them
I wholeheartedly agree Sasha! Can't stop thinking about it. Brilliant beyond belief. Emma is getting raves deservedly so for Poor Things, but I thought The Curse is even better. Two fascinating, dichotomic and quite different performances. What range!
And the way the series shape shifts. And the ending!
Yep, the clips you shared got me hooked. Seems somewhat reminiscent of Sideways, in that parts of it make you uncomfortable even as you are laughing along. But mainly, it looks like it might be an insightful take on the "reality" of woke consciousness, and that is indeed grounds for hope. Time for a critique of The Critique.
I just finished the series. Dang, that was something. It was probably the most...thought provoking TV series I've ever seen. And that ending? You all have to see it for yourselves. Sasha, thank you for your recommendation. What's up next? :)
Thanx Sasha. Check out the original willie wonka movie. There's a seen where charlie drinks too much bub and ends up floating up and up and up. His only choice is to belch to let out the buoyancy. And the scene foretokens the final scene of the movie where charlie and willie board a rocket-propelled elevator and shoot through the roof of the chocolate factory and the scene ends with a fantastic birds eye view of london. There was never a sequel so we don't know if they kept on going or if gravity took over. I assume the elevator had a parachute but really don't know for sure.

Messianic? Is that the word you're lookin' for?
Nope, that's not the word I was looking for.
He is risen.
Thanks for this. Going to check it out!
Anything with Shane Gillis is worth a look. :-D That dude is hilarious.
I agree 100% with Sasha! Loved the Curse! Watched from the beginning! Jeff couldn’t get it at all.
Thank you for the recommendation! I'm only 2 episodes in but I'm hooked. So much going on, unpredictable, both satirical and serious.
I read a glowing review in Tablet also. It's on my list to check out now.
I’ll give it a try.
P.S.: it doesn't hurt that Nathan Fielder is a dead ringer for Pete Buttigieg (?), both in appearance and affect.
I just call him bootie.

Happy Valentine’s Day to the Ladies
Ode to Thine Extrearior
Though thou has a wise and fun interior,
Wonderous even more is thine extrearior,
When into a room thouest wiggle,
All eyes turn to glimpse a glance of thy jiggle,
Up they start until they meet those theyes,
That could crack a nut on very first tries,
Please let me finish before I stop,
I haven’t yet gotten to the rack up top,
So before you sign to thyself be true,
Know that all is perfectly placed on you.

Oh man. I couldn't get through the first episode. Way too uncomfortable for me.
I want what you're smoking.
