The Daily Wire Surprises with Lady Ballers

A satirical look at men playing in women's sports

The Daily Wire has been coming to Hollywood from all sides now. They started with suspense thrillers with Run, Hide Fight. Then, they released the film Shut In. There is also Matt Walsh’s notorious documentary, What is a Woman?

They launched a children’s division called Bentkey and now, they’ve just released the trailer for their new absurdist comedy, Lady Ballers, dropping on Daily Wire on December 1.

In a world where women’s sports is being trans-formed, The Daily Wire calls foul with the most triggering comedy of the year. A once-great coach is on a hilarious journey back to victory by reuniting his former high school championship basketball team, but this time, he’s challenging them to play like girls. Premieres 12/1 at 8PM ET. Exclusively on DailyWire+.

The Daily Wire has been trolling Hollywood, while also building up its subscriber base, making enough money to keep growing and expanding what has to be considered a formidable entertainment company by now. It would be one thing if they made films no one watched or talked about. That might be true of some films they put out, like the thrillers. But it won’t be true about Lady Ballers.

None of the trades would be caught dead touching this story. The punishment is not worth the reward. The Sound of Freedom was a successful film that came from the Right, and they barely went near it. But this would be on a completely different level as they are mocking the sacred, per much of the Left.

Eventually, not too long from now, “journalists” will start “investigating” anyone associated with the movie and will have free reign to attempt to destroy their careers. They have all of the power, so why shouldn’t they? They already focus on Ted Cruz, thinking, maybe they can turn it into a political issue to help remove Cruz from office.

As a Daily Wire member, I will watch the film and give you an honest review. My guess is that it will be funny-ish. Jokes that can’t be made in public are often funny by design. So much of the woke Left has now locked arms with Jihadist ideology on Israel, but they turn out to have much in common, like the inability to mock or poke fun at the sacred.

I remember decades ago when Sam Kinison was considered controversial for mocking the Christianity he’d grown up with. It was a kind of therapy for him. His jokes were as funny as they were profane. Really great humor often punctured what is too serious to even talk about, much less joke about.

It isn’t that the Daily Wire is the first to mock the males in women’s sports thing. JP Sears has quite a few videos doing just that.

This video has around 279K views. The Daily Wire’s Lady Ballers will have three times that, at least. But more importantly, it will be talked about. With JP Sears, as funny as he is (I don’t agree with everything he posts, especially not his pro-Hamas nonsense), his work mostly exists within the confines of his fan base on YouTube. It circulates among populists, but it can’t turn the issue into a talking point in the mainstream the way the Daily Wire can.

If you talk to most people on the Left, they will obfuscate. They will say it’s such a small number of people who compete in female sports, it doesn’t threaten women, trans women don’t have a biological advantage, etc. That’s because they rarely see any examples of people who are obviously masculine-looking and strong, like men easily beating women in competitions like cycling, swimming, or boxing.

Fear of being attacked or shunned means they’ll never talk about the harm being done to women; how many of them are abandoning sports because what’s the point of competing if you have to compete against biological men?

In Ohio, a bill has made it to the Senate to ban biological males from competing in women’s sports, along with “gender-affirming care.” Riley Gaines and other activists testified yesterday:

Many will see Lady Ballers as punching down, hurting a group that is already vulnerable. They see them as potentially suicidal, killed disproportionately, abused, and suffering. That’s why most people say nothing. They view biological women as having the advantage. They will see Lady Ballers as bullying and overtly cruel.

Much of the mocking online of transgender people does tip into bullying. But that’s the equal and opposite reaction to mandating thought and speech, not to mention capturing all major institutions and medical establishments. Forcing all of us to go along with something will create a reaction and a backlash.

Comedians are an endangered species now. Seeing one movie that pokes fun at the sacred might relieve some of the pressure that has killed comedy as we once knew it.
